Regional Strategy Development Specialist-LACRO

This is an HCI Local Role that will be based in Panama


PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To provide technical expertise to the development, implementation and coordination of the Regional Strategy, and to facilitate and support National Office strategy development in order to ensure its alignment with the Regional and Global Strategy.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Facilitate in developing and implementing Regional Strategy, including engagement of key stakeholders and alignment with the Global Partnership Strategy. Ensure that all strategy initiatives are designed, implemented, monitored and evaluated.
    • Facilitate and support regional strategy roll-out throughout the Latin America and the Caribbean Region. Ensure that all necessary monitoring processes are in place for new strategy initiatives.
    • Facilitate the Regional Working Group and Virtual Investment Review process in order to make recommendations to the RVP on Regional Portfolio Management.To recommend key themes and priorities for regional strategy to the RVPs. To make recommendations on allocation of regional resources to the RVPs. To recommend and provide input into the development of regional policy, practices and minimum standards.
    • Facilitate and support National Office strategy development across the Region.Ensure strategic alignment and provide tools, feedback and inputs, if needed.
    • Provide inputs to the Director of Regional Strategy and to the Regional Leader, providing briefing, developing materials and recommendations and serving as a sounding board on key decisions.
    • Support Regional change management process and engagement with Regional key leaders.
    • Collect and analyze data from NOs and SOs, integrate information gathered, check for alignment with regional and global strategy, and match funds and needs related to multilateral resource allocation process.
    • Utilize the strategy initiative gated process. Ensure that all strategy initiatives are designed, implemented, monitored and evaluated. Develop clear frameworks and ensure that all necessary monitoring processes are in place for new strategy initiatives.
    • Work collaboratively with OSM team members when assigned to work as part of a team.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

REQUIRED:
    • BA in economics, business administration, public administration, international development or related field
    • Strategic Planning Knowledge and skills: Demonstrates an ability to perform strategic business planning including settling organizational objectives, overseeing competitive analysis, strategy communication and opportunity recognition.
      International Development: Strong knowledge and understanding of humanitarian industry (relief, development, and advocacy), including how INGOs operate in the global,
    • Regional and local contexts. Understanding WV current ministry and operations is critical.
    • Finance and funding Knowledge: Applies understanding of the broad financial basis of the organization, strategic resource allocation, and understanding funding model.
    • Business Know-How: Applies a broad-based understanding of key business fundamentals with knowledge of World Vision’s organization, strategic relationships, and the business/political environment.
    • Performance Management: Demonstrates ability to design and implement performance management system and develop recommendation for strategy development and goals setting..
    • Written Communication: Expresses ideas, thoughts, and concepts clearly and effectively in writing, using correct and appropriate grammar, organization and structure.
    • Ability to think globally/regionally and look at the macro, strategic issues to inform strategy choices and management process.
    • Thinks carefully about the likely effects on others of one's words, actions, appearance and mode of behavior. Selects the words or actions most likely to have the desired effect on the individual or group in question. Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a team.

    • Computer Skills: Demonstrates effective computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office Suite, Lotus Notes, intranet and Internet, and various software applications and databases used in work efforts.
    • Written and verbal skills in English and Spanish.
    • Some travel required – 25%.
    • 3 years of broad and deep experience in several functions, esp. on international development and management and cross-functional senior management experiences within WV (e.g., ND or Operations Director)

      PREFERRED:
    • Master's degree in economics business administration public administration international development or related field.
