POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Title: Event Assistant

Location: Washington, D.C.

The Council is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Event Assistant to support the Event Operations and Special Events team in the Washington office. The position is an excellent opportunity for someone who would like to learn the basics and is interested in a career in event planning. The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Working closely with the Events Management team to schedule all CFR events in Washington and assisting with the maintenance of CFR's electronic events calendar.
  • Assisting in the logistics and staffing for meetings including working closely with event leads to ensure a successful event
  • Providing administrative support to the Event Management team through assisting with inventory control, processing bills, ordering supplies, and responding to phone calls and emails.
  • Overseeing the arrangements for and operations of audio visual needs and equipment for CFR's internal events and Special Events.
  • Compiling event reports for the Special Events department and CFR events.
  • Working most meetings and Special Events.
  • Handling routine office functions such as maintaining the appearance of conference space and insuring proper operation of equipment.

Qualification:

  • BA in a related field preferred.
  • Related administrative and/ or internship experience, previous events experience a must.
  • Strong interest in the events industry.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late evenings and occasional weekends.
  • Excellent communication skills and phone manner.
  • Experience in handling multiple tasks and excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team, as well as independently.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and email, database experience preferred.
