Position Summary

This senior staff position in the programming area of Freedom House requires knowledge of internet freedom issues and effective program and grant management skills. The Senior Program Manager will report to the Deputy Director of Programs. The position is contingent on funding.

Some Duties and Responsibilities

* Lead team in design, development, and implementation of programs to promote internet freedom in repressive environments * Manage staff in Washington and oversee external partnerships * Track and plan financial aspects of programs * Report regularly to supervisor on developments related to internet freedom, program status, and opportunities * Represent Freedom House before external audiences, including funders and policy makers * Identify and pursue new funding opportunities for programs * Craft recommendations for governments to improve their protections of internet users' rights and freedoms * Draft press releases and other advocacy materials * Coordinate with analysis team on reports and outreach

Qualification:
Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree; Master's degree in related area preferred * 8 - 10 years work experience in democracy promotion, human rights defense, and/or advocacy for fundamental freedoms * Academic and/or substantive experience on issues of online freedom of expression and internet governance * Demonstrated experience in digital activism * Strong communications skills, particularly in report and grant proposal writing * Demonstrated ability to develop innovative and strategic responses to democracy and human rights promotion opportunities and in producing impactful programs and initiatives * Demonstrated ability and success in leading a team and managing a diverse range of external partnerships * Grant management experience, ideally with both USG and private-funded projects
