Strategy Manager - Economics - Low Carbon Technology Sector

A new role has been created within the Strategy team of the Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) to develop credible business analysis of the application of new technologies within the Low Carbon sector. Businesses operating in future UK energy systems will face new challenges, for example managing the variability of renewable energy supplies, the long term liabilities and network complexity issues of CO2 transport and storage or the value creation and capture opportunities of new energy services, such as electric vehicle recharging.

You will take responsibility for developing outline business models for the application of new technologies within future UK energy system designs. This is a key role leading development of thinking, engaging with a diverse range of people, moving from a naked cost analysis of different technologies to critical insights into the business basis for the roll-out of new technologies. You will also become an expert on energy systems analysis and modelling and use ETI modelling tools to analyse issues.

As Strategy Manager you need to be results orientated, entrepreneurial and self motivated with extensive analytical, organisational and presentation skills. You will need to be able to lead, facilitate and persuade through your personal authority and approach.

Along with a relevant degree in Science, Engineering or Economics and a diverse business background, ideally including the application of new technologies, your understanding of how businesses can make money from technology and your track record of working with colleagues to do the business planning or policy development for new technology introduction will be key to your success in this role. Ideally you will have some knowledge & experience of energy related technologies and a demonstrated ability to learn about new areas of technology and their application.
