Web Content Manager / IT Systems Administrator

Shelter Centre is seeking to fill two internship positions to support one of the most innovative website resources in the international humanitarian community: the only online inter-agency technical library supporting field operations, contacted from over 180 countries worldwide in the last two months alone. Shelter Centre is a non-governmental organisation registered in Switzerland which supports the sector of humanitarian operations that responds to the transitional settlement and reconstruction needs of populations affected by conflicts and natural disasters, from the emergency phase until durable solutions are reached. http://sheltercentre.org/library was built by the leading company using ‘Drupal’ open source software, Development Seed, which has built key web resources for the UN and World Bank. The Shelter Library uses private sector and public sector principles to ‘sell’ information for free and to support a global humanitarian community of practice. The Shelter Library is currently being re-built by another leading Drupal shop, Trellon, to achieve series of regional web resources, supporting also the first global common humanitarian technical training, funded by DFID and ECHO. Shelter Centre is a dynamic small humanitarian NGO, located in Geneva immediately opposite the UN, which relies on interns to develop innovative support to all of the leading humanitarian agencies, from MSF to the UN. In addition to supporting the finalisation of the website relaunch, the two successful applicants will also backstop office systems administration, so that the other interns and staff at Shelter Centre may continue to work productively and safely. IT and information management are central to the approach of Shelter Centre. Shelter Centre is looking for people with IT skills to fill two posts: A Web Content Manager, and a Systems Administrator.
