Campaigns Manager - London (UK)

Position: Campaigns Manager Location: HQ – London (United Kingdom), with occasional travel to the field. Salary: GBP 30,000 per annum About RI: Relief International-UK (www.ri-uk.org), an international relief and development agency with cross-sectoral programmes bridging relief and development, currently seeks a dynamic, skilled and highly motivated Campaigns Manager to raise public and institutional awareness of RI-UK and its work around the world. Summary: The Campaigns Manager will have responsibility for the development and maintenance of RI-UK’s public profile through media and public relations, supporter communication, publication and online activities. The Campaigns Manager will work closely with the Director, the Programmes team, and colleagues in the field to develop content.

POSITION & REQUIREMENTS Responsibilities include: 1. Public engagement strategy development and execution: a. With support from the Director, develop and execute RI-UK’s public campaigns strategy including through use of press, publications, web and video, events, and direct supporter outreach. b. Focus on attracting a diverse range of new supporters to actively engage with RI-UK’s work, including students, young professionals, diaspora groups, companies, and trusts and foundations. c. Ensure that RI-UK’s work is presented in a distinct, compelling, and appropriate way to a range of audiences. d. Ensure that engaged individuals and organizations receive frequent updates on the organization’s work.

  1. Press and Media: a. Proactively engage with media outlets (print, broadcast, online) to increase coverage of RI-UK’s programming, analysis, and policy positions. b. Handle all press enquiries; write and disseminate press releases; maintain and expand press contacts database; place media stories; monitor media coverage; handle info@ enquiries.

  2. Publications: a. Ensure RI-UK’s achievements and perspectives are presented clearly and in a style that will be memorable and distinctive. b. Write and commission copy for a range of RI-UK publications including supporter updates, emergency appeals, annual reports, and fundraising documents. c. Procure work from outside agencies to support communications tasks, including graphic design services, printers, media sales and related service providers.

  3. Web and video: a. Ensure that RI-UK maximises its online presence and communicates with an increasingly large audience through its own website and through linkages and presence in other online locations, including blogs, social media and other websites. b. Produce and post content for the RI-UK website, and come up with new ideas to increase web site visits, linkages and dwell time.

  4. Fundraising: a. Identify and implement strategies for converting public interest in RI-UK’s work into donations, memberships, or in-kind contributions. b. Cultivate relationships with existing and new donor to deepen the connection between donors and the organisation. c. Identify potential larger donors (individuals and companies) and work with the Director to engage them. Qualifications and Requirements: a. Educated to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in communications / media relations, journalism or related field. Masters Degree is a plus. b. Outstanding communicator with a passion for telling our story in an exciting, honest and ethical style. c. Proven track record in the creation of relevant communications products – press releases, web pages, appeals etc. d. First-hand experience and a proven track record of managing campaign and communications tasks across a range of media – print, broadcast and on line, including the use of social media. e. Have an established set of relationships with relevant media outlets and / or individual journalists. f. First-hand experience of campaigns and communications work in an international humanitarian aid agency preferred. g. Experience of marketing and campaigning in international humanitarian aid agencies preferred.
