We are looking for a committed communications expert with a passion for environment to work in our Communications Unit and in close cooperation with the EU Policy Officers.
The work consists of:
- Drafting, editing and delivering press releases for national and international media;
- Proofreading and editing documents written by non-native speakers;
- Coordinating publications: layout, contact with printers, and distribution (including supervision of outsourced work). This includes EEB’s quarterly newsletter, ‘Metamorphosis’;
- Maintaining good relations with press contacts in and beyond Brussels and updating the media database;
- Occasionally, organising press conferences and inviting media to EEB events;
- Monitoring press coverage;
- Compiling and editing EEB’s activity reports;
- Updating the web site;
- Advising the Policy Officers on publicity and outreach opportunities;
- Developing ideas on how to improve EEB’s visibility at national level;
- Contributing to further develop EEB’s communication strategy.
Qualities and experiences:
- High level of written and spoken English (native speaker or equivalent); knowledge of French desirable, knowledge of other European languages a potential asset;
- Proven writing and editorial skills;
- Experience in drafting and revising texts and press releases on the time pressure;
- Experience with publication work including use of outside agencies for design;
- Interest in and good knowledge of the EU and environmental matters;
- Competence with Word, Adobe tools, and web-based content management systems;
- Knowledge of social media and databases would be an asset;
- Flexibility (we expect and offer flexibility regarding work schedules);
- Prepared and able to work in a dynamic working environment, sometimes under pressure.
