African Revival Programme Manager, Zambia

For our Zambia office, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced PROGRAMME MANAGER (PM) to manage our expanding Focal School Programme covering primary schools in the Kalomo District, Southern Province, Zambia.

Currently, The Focal School Programme in Zambia consists of only two elements: school environment, and school resources. However, more elements are expected to be added in 2012 following successful pilots in Uganda. The goal for African Revival is to create a model that comprises a holistic whole for creating lasting changes in the primary schools. Our aim is to work with the local community around a school to develop a shared strategy for a period of 3-4 years. African Revival then supports the realisation of the strategy and assists the communities to develop the school into a centre of excellence.

The Programme Manager will be responsible for the successful implementation of all African Revival’s projects in Zambia, in collaboration with a small team of local staff and the communities in which we work. As such the Programme Manager will be responsible for: project management, financial management, HR management, procurement and logistics, reporting, and the general administration for all operations in Zambia.

The Programme Manager will work closely with the school administration, SMC/PTA, and the wider community to ensure their involvement throughout the project cycle. It is the desire of African Revival that communities play an integral part in the development of their school. It is vital that the Programme Manager both understands and supports the aim of strengthening local ownership through involvement and participation.

As the Focal School Programme is still under development, the Programme Manager is also expected to participate in the further development of the project portfolio in Zambia making sure that the Focal School Programme elements in Zambia are complementary and focused on enhancing the quality of education.
