Summary:

IWPR's Iran Program is seeking a Project Coordinator for its online journal Zannegaar, an online women's studies journal in Persian, to manage the day-to-day affairs of the publication.

The role of the Project Coordinator is to plan, execute, and finalize all aspects of the project according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and/or consultants in order to deliver projects to plan. The Project Coordinator will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. The coordinator will report to and coordinate directly with the Program Director.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and oversee production of content for the online journal.
  • Liaise with contributors to the journal, media consultants, freelance translators and content/copy editors.
  • Manage scheduling for copyrighting, translating and editing the journal.
  • Review all material prior to publication and exercise quality control.
  • Develop and maintain a communication strategy designed to bring the online journal to a wider audience.
  • Develop a full-scale project plan for the journal’s monthly forums, including topics, moderators, and participants, in accordance with the project’s timeline and deliverables timetable.
  • Oversee all aspects of these forums including managing resources, liaising with participants and coordinating the development and maintenance of each forum.
  • Take responsibility for sourcing, assessing and delivering content for the forums.
  • Submit weekly, monthly and quarterly reports documenting the journal’s activity for program reporting.
  • Provide accurate budget spending reports for the project.
  • Track and ensure progress of the project against program deliverables
  • Coordinate with the Program Director on an ongoing basis to support program objectives.
  • Coordinate and manage the journal website with the webmaster.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel and respond to all incoming correspondence.

Journal Coordination Responsibilities:

  • Liaise and coordinate journal content with subject-specific experts.
  • Manage and arrange article translations with contracted translators.
  • Recruit and manage good-quality translation and copy-editing contractors.
  • Develop and manage marketing strategies for the journal via social media.
  • Obtain necessary copyright permissions.
  • Meet publication deadlines.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Requirements

Essential

  • BA or preferably MA in women’s studies, international development or related fields.
  • Bilingual in English and Persian, written and spoken.
  • Proven experience of project management.
  • Exceptional organizational and managerial skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strategic thinking skills to find solutions for team success
  • Ability to multi-task and contribute project activities to varying levels.
  • High ability in team work and a professional attitude.
  • Technical knowledge of blogging and social media (e.g Facebook, Twitter, Google +).

Desirable

  • Cultural familiarity with project area
  • Experience of online media
