Job Description

Under the responsibility of the Head of the Air Quality and Noise Group, reporting to the Head of the Air and Climate Change Programme, the Project Manager shall be responsible for supporting EEA’s air quality reporting and assessment activities.

The position will entail the following tasks:

• Developing assessments of air pollution trends and of air pollution impacts on human health and the environment. This includes inter alia tracking progress towards achieving air quality targets and evaluation of air pollution policies and measures;
• Steering data reporting developments, improvements, streamlining and integration of air quality data flows including near real time data flows and in line with SEIS, INSPIRE and GMES principles and requirements;
• Overseeing the establishment and management of the repository of the air quality data emanating from the Implementing Decision 2011/850/EU, the creation and updating of quality checking tools for the exchange of these data and the annual compilation of a publically accessible database of ambient air quality monitoring data;
• Coordinating the annual preparation of overviews on the development of the ambient air quality monitoring in EEA member countries and on the results of the reported ambient air quality assessment information under the air quality directives;
• Networking and communicating the results of air quality assessments to relevant audiences, including EIONET, European Commission services and working groups, EEA member countries, expert and research communities and the media.
