PSI seeks a Program Assistant (PA) to support program management functions in the West and Central Africa (WCA) department. The PA will have wide-ranging responsibilities and work with PSI staff at all levels both in Washington and overseas. The position requires flexibility and willingness to assume varied duties and projects with an emphasis on administrative tasks for specific PSI platforms in WCA. This position is based in Washington, D.C. and reports to the Regional Director and Deputy Regional Director for WCA.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Program Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the staff of the WCA region, ensuring smooth and timely flow of work. Additionally, the Program Assistant duties may include some backstopping responsibilities for specific PSI platforms in WCA. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
• Assist the WCA team in the preparation, review and editing of documents, presentations, reports, proposals and excel spreadsheets; compile and collect data; and draft correspondence as needed • Schedule and prepare for meetings and take minutes as requested • Assist with the organization and coordination of departments meetings, workshops and events • Track and analyze budget and performance data • Coordinate procurement and logistics of services and payments
• Assist in the review of contractual documents and/or program budgets
• Assist with travel arrangements for WCA staff including: helping to secure visas for urgent travel, making hotel reservations and airport pick-up for visitors to D.C. • Create and maintain filing systems, classifying, and tracking country-specific documentation and design innovative ways to manage knowledge and information tracking needs, including compilation of selected metrics • Provide administrative assistance to the Regional Director and Deputy Regional Director, assisting with travel arrangements and expense report preparation • Manage communications with overseas staff, administrative follow-up; and • Fulfill other programmatic and administrative functions as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree • At least 1-2 years experience working in a fast paced office environment • Advanced computer skills (MS Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint) • Excellent organizational and administrative skills with special attention to detail and timeliness • Proficiency in French preferred

Successful candidates will be customer service oriented, exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills; have proven problem solving ability; be able to work efficiently and quickly under pressure; be able to prioritize and perform multiple tasks; and have the ability to work with minimal supervision and follow through on assignments. Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated interest in international health and development issues.
