Background information
TI-S’ 5-year Implementation Plan sets out some ambitious new directions for the secretariat. In particular, there is an emphasis on organizing our work around the six Key Programmes. A key role of the Regional Department is to spearhead and support the implementation of various components of these programmes in the region across the network of Chapters. In this context, the Regional Coordinators support TI Chapters in their anti-corruption efforts, coordinate and implement capacity development in the region and develop programmes and projects in collaboration with chapters to support the implementation of TI’s 2015 strategy. This position is for one of the four Regional Coordinators in the Europe and Central Asia Department.
Responsibilities:
The Regional Coordinator is responsible for strengthening TI’s presence, reputation and impact in (the above-mentioned countries) for which s/he is the primary TI-S contact. Working with the Regional Director, s/he represents TI in regional institutions, supports the work of TI’s national chapters in these countries at national level, monitors political developments, identifies reputational risks, coordinates capacity development and advocacy interventions, supports fundraising activities and ensures implementation of the Accreditation Policy. More specifically, the Regional coordinator will:
- Monitor the political situation, anti-corruption developments, reputational risks and media opportunities in countries under direct responsibility in ways that provide timely information to the Regional Director and others at TI, and provide relevant advice to external stakeholders.
- Support TI Chapters under direct responsibility with their national level representation and advocacy work.
- Coordinate and implement capacity development, knowledge exchange and governance support interventions for TI Chapters under direct responsibility.
- Facilitate the provision of TI-S key support services to TI Chapters under direct responsibility.
- Develop new programmes for joint work in the region in consultation with TI Chapters, including writing proposals and preparing budgets.
- Support TI Chapters in their fundraising efforts.
- Pursue contacts with governments, international organisations, private sector and civil society to facilitate the work of TI Chapters.
- Identify potential new TI Chapters and partners.
- Respond to enquiries from members of the public, international organisations, and others.
- Represent TI at forums in or about the region as appropriate.
- Take active part in media work relating both to TI’s work in the region and to TI’s global launches.
Knowledge, experience and skills:
- Undergraduate university degree or professional qualification in social science, public policy or administration, journalism, international law, economics, management, or another relevant field
- 4/5+ years of relevant experience with an International NGO, International or Multinational Organisation, working on issues of good governance, public sector reforms, social development, international development, or institutional capacity-building
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and experience in the region
- Knowledge of, or considerable interest in, the work of TI and the field of anti-corruption
- Proven management/coordination experience
- Excellent project development and fundraising skills
- Fluency in English; knowledge of any other European languages would be an advantage
- Highly developed team work and intercultural communication skills
- Willingness to travel
