Sector Communications Associate in Washington, DC.

Position Responsibilities

  • Performs and provides logistical support duties for Sector Communications team that help to establish, protect, elevate and reinforce FHI 360’s leadership in specific sectors.
  • Prepares documents and reports, uses office technology as required (email distribution programs, media databases, contact databases, etc.), compiles and organizes records, posts information. Prepares documents, reports and briefing materials for consultants, staff and clients.
  • Serves as a resource on organizational and departmental policies and procedures in order to coordinate activities across team.
  • Oversees dissemination of invites, newsletters, releases and other announcements. Organize, manage and build strategic target audience lists.
  • Supports the development of select materials from draft to final document copyedit;
  • Coordinates meetings as requested.
  • Collects and verifies data, summarizes and reconciles information
  • Assists in department budget management and tracking.
  • Assists with print pieces and other communications tools as needed
  • Provides support for special events and manages forms and processes related to events.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Works on problems that require problem solving skills.
  • Exercises good judgment within defined practices and policies to perform duties; Decisions made can affect organization because of the highly visible nature of the department.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field of study; Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent in communications or related field preferred;
  • Typically requires 0-2 years of communications experience; Prior experience in a non- governmental organization (NGO) preferred.
  • Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English; fluent in host country language.
  • Knowledge of communications principles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and attention to detail skills.
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft office products, databases and list dissemination tools.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify errors and draft reports.
