The Challenge We are looking for an experienced communications manager to work within the Corporate Communications Department. The role will focus on nutrition communications linked to the company brand and reputation. The Corporate Communications Department (CCD) supports the strategy of DSM by positioning DSM as a recognized leader in Life Sciences and Materials Sciences. It defines and develops specific business thought- leadership positions, such as in the area of Nutrition, it builds the brand, protects the reputation of the company and positions DSM as an attractive employer. It does so by integrated internal and external communications policies and execution, with a focus on the Bio Based Economy, the Nutrition Challenge, Climate & Energy and Employee Positioning. Key clients are the Managing Board as well as different Business Groups, functions and service units. Close relationships with the Nutrition business are desired. You will be a member of the CCD Management Team which co-designs and implements this program for strategic communications where you will be responsible for the Nutrition content utilizing a wide array of tools to communicate it and for managing one direct report. Moreover, your role within the CCD (Management) Team will be as a respected thought leader on both nutrition and communications, and as a real motivator who provides the helicopter view, gets things done and delivers outcomes as well as output. Your key challenge will be to ensure coherent communications in the area of nutrition in support of the brand and company positioning consistent with the business objectives towards the various stakeholder groups.
Qualifications The ideal candidate is an experienced professional in the area of corporate communications. We are looking for the “spider in the web” (central figure), who is able to deal with complex environments and has sound skills of content creation politics, diplomacy, patience and convincement. Campaign thinking at corporate level rather than moving from event to event. The job has a high visibility internally and externally and significant impact on the company’s reputation; we are therefore looking for a candidate with a high sense of responsibility. Our candidate should be a true team player who can motivate people in an own authentic and sociable style, thinks things through carefully before acting and is a good listener. Knowledge & Skills:
- Academic level
- Experience with (corporate) communications preferably with a listed company
- Affinity with the nutrition challenge both in developed and developing world English as (near) native language
