Senior Technical Advisor – Clinical and Public Health

Contract: 4 months
Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on experience

Malaria Consortium has got an opportunity for a Senior Technical Advisor in Clinical and Public Health to join on a four months contract to provide sabbatical cover for the long-term post-holder. The Senior Technical Advisor is responsible for provision of high level technical advice in control of malaria, other tropical diseases, child and maternal health and nutrition, to the full range of Malaria Consortium’s programmes and projects worldwide and for backstopping Technical Director for UK responsibilities.
This role requires up to 60% travelling.
The successful candidate will have:
• Medical doctor or highly experienced public health nurse
• Extensive international experience working in communicable disease control in developing countries
• Demonstrable experience working in a technical advisory capacity with Ministries of health, international agencies and non-Governmental organisations
• Practical organisational skills with the ability to manage a fluctuating workload, prioritise and re-prioritise when necessary and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent writing and presentation skills
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Cultural awareness
• Availability to travel up to 60% of time
• Excellent interpersonal, motivational and management skills with extensive experience mentoring staff;
• Ability to work in team
