Corporate Alliance Specialist

Purpose of the Position
You will assist the Sr. Adviser CSR on existing CSR Private Partnership projects and on development of other new CSR initiatives, excluding fundraising and donations-in-kind of products. Responsibilities include leading and managing policy and research assignments, reviewing and collating good private partnership practices globally, and disseminating information to a wide range of audiences. The role involves contributing to all aspects of UNICEF corporate engagement/CSR programmes as required, and representing and promoting UNICEF to the business community and at national/international conferences.

The role includes: a) develops, implements, manages and monitors CSR elements of the corporate engagement strategy as it pertains to encouraging corporate sector investments in children’s issues and socially responsible practices; and, b) provides policy guidance and technical support to UNICEF Headquarter Divisions, Regional Offices, Country Offices and National Committees in developing their approaches to non-financial Corporate Engagement & partnerships.

Key Expected Results
1. You will develop and implement strategies to encourage individual companies, target industries and business associations and networks and relevant media to actively engage in the critical issues facing the world’s children and to support UNICEF's mission and objectives. This will include the development of an organizational CSR position and strategy and assisting with the development of the corporate engagement strategy as it looks to develop UNICEF’s expertise across a wide spectrum of public health and sustainable development issues/priorities( infectious diseases, child survival, HIVAIDS, sexual trafficking, water shortage etc) as they affect and interface with business. Provide technical support to the development, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Regional & National corporate Engagement Plans. This excludes fundraising and in-kind product donations.

2. You will initiate, lead and manage corporate/business social investment and partnership practices with the aim of collating good corporate practice. Work with the Senior Management of Global Companies on Partnership/CSR matters and encourage practical and achievable partnerships. Identify emerging public private partnership trends especially as it impacts children’s issues. Identifies and develops new approaches and methodologies for monitoring and evaluation of UNICEF’s corporate partnership activities and impact on children. Ensure UNICEF senior management and UNICEF corporate partners are briefed on current relevant debates in child health, international development and partnership research using appropriate communications channels.

3. You will lead the organization in the development of private sector partnerships. Work across divisions on the development of partnerships and dissemination of information.

4. You will identify and maintain a network of external technical resources to assist UNICEF in the development and implementation of corporate engagement activities, including learning and training opportunities. Facilitate inter-office technical support where feasible. Develop relationships with stakeholders in the Public private partnership arena including sister agencies, global NGO’s, trade groups, Governments and the CSR and Social Responsible Investment industries.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate
Advanced university degree in any of the following: Social Sciences, Economics, Public Administration, International Relations, Business Administration, Public Health, Education or other fields related to the work of UNICEF.

Eight years of progressively responsible managerial experience in the development field and/or in a global private sector company. Experience must be at the international level, including the management of complex multi-stakeholder partnerships and at least five years experience in policy and strategy development, design and implementation. Corporate Social Responsibility Experience is an asset

Thorough knowledge of current trends and practices of /public private partnerships/corporate social responsibility/social investment/corporate resource mobilization, policy, planning and strategy development

Fluency in English and another UN language.
