Disaster Response Coordinator Habitat for Humanity International
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a motivated professional to fill the role of Disaster Response Coordinator in the Gulf Coast Area. The Disaster Response Coordinator will report to the Specialist, Global Disaster Response.
Responsibilities will include:
-Supports Gulf Coast affiliates & State Support Organizations (SSOs) with disaster preparedness & response planning, including travel within the region to provide one-on-one & one-to-many technical guidance.
-Facilitate communication & information-sharing with others at HQs and US field staff on program development & monitoring based on industry best practices.
-Serve as a member of the HFHI DR Rapid Deployment Roster.
-Collect & publish promising practices in the areas of disaster preparedness, mitigation, & response from the Gulf Coast that can be shared with other affiliates & SSOs around the United States.
-Participate in on-going interactions with Disaster Response Subject Matter Experts throughout the HFH network.
-Promote Habitat's local involvement in disaster preparedness & response networks throughout the Gulf Coast region, including VOAD, Long Term Recovery Groups, & public/private preparedness & response task forces.
-Supports the development of industry-wide position papers, best practice documents & standards on behalf of Gulf SSOs and HFHI.
Required Skills:
-Bachelor's Degree.
-3-5 Years related experience
-Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook.
-Proficiency in Access, Visio, & MS Project a plus.
-Excellent organizational skills, especially in information management, & the ability to work with minimal supervision.
-Excellent written, verbal & interpersonal communication skills.
-Fluency in written & spoken English required.
-Experience in conducting training events & presentations.
-Ability to travel to disaster-affected areas on very short notice & foster development of response programs in challenging conditions.
-Comprehensive knowledge of disaster response issues and systems used in the United States, including needs assessments.
-Knowledgeable about the concepts of disaster mitigation and preparedness from an affordable housing perspective.
-Strong leadership, planning, organizational & diplomatic skills required.
