We currently seek an experienced professional to establish our new Office of International Affairs, an important and highly visible Stanford resource that will help encourage and support our international programs and activities. In this key position, you will work closely with other senior level colleagues to establish processes and mechanisms to ensure that our faculty and students have access to a dynamic, comprehensive information base relevant to their global research and education, as well as manage Stanford's Global Gateway website and the University's foreign-visitor program. Major responsibilities will include developing strategies to optimize coordination and communication among schools, departments and faculty engaged in foreign activities; devising a formal mechanism for departments and faculty members to share information; providing assistance with legal and liability issues; actively promoting new globalization and internationalization efforts; managing an annual seed grant program; and promoting faculty and program participation in the maintenance of a central clearinghouse of information. We'll also rely on you to develop region/country profiles for development purposes; take primary responsibility for organizing and handling foreign delegations, dignitaries and other foreign guests on campus; supervise the International Coordinator; work with the Office of the General Counsel to ensure the consistent application of legal standards; and work with faculty and staff to ensure that risk assessments are done for all foreign programs.

Qualification:
This highly visible opportunity requires a resourceful self-starter with a BA/BS degree (MA, MBA, JD or PhD highly preferred) and 5+ years of experience with international programs in an academic institution or other relevant international experience. Exceptional program development, problem solving, communication, interpersonal and organization skills are essential, along with an attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
