Database Developer PATH

Primary Function

The Technology Services group is the software services and delivery group within the Global Information Systems organization, providing program and project management, software development, and IT vendor management for all of PATH’s software initiatives.

The SQL developer in the Technology Services is a member of a small database development team that supports PATH’s administrative systems and mission-driven project teams. The DBA function resides on this team, and this role will occasionally provide back up to PATH’s SQL DBA. The position requires an ability to work as part of a team on structure projects and independently, proactively identifying necessary tasks, and self-motivating toward goals. The ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical partners, and the ability to document changes are important components of this position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide back-end development for internal applications including database objects such as indexes, tables, views, constraints, and stored procedures
  • Proven ability with SQL Server database development, testing, implementation, and data migration
  • Demonstrated T-SQL expertise in stored procedures, triggers, OLTP, SSRS
  • Experienced with data warehouse development, EDW with PerformancePoint front end
  • Passionate about data quality and integrity
  • Basic knowledge of SQL server administration
  • Able to perform root cause analysis for problems and recommend solutions to minimize future incidents
Required Skills
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 in a Windows environment
  • Data warehouse development and standards
  • SSIS, SSRS, T-SQL, ETL, OLTP, stored procedures, triggers
  • MS Access
  • Experience with data architecture principles and standards
  • Ability to plan, document and manage deliverables for multiple IT projects & deadlines effectively with a minimum of supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL Server administration including security, backup and maintenance jobs, and performance troubleshooting
  • Proven ability to work as part of a dynamic team to arrive at collaborative solutions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
Required Experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in database development
  • Proven experience with MS SQL Server administration a plus
  • TFS 2010, SharePoint 2010 a plus
  • Experience in architecting, implementing and supporting new systems with an understanding of associated business implications.
  • Experience working for an international organization facing low-bandwidth challenges is preferred
