SENIOR LIBRARIAN MANAGER IN-SERVICE TRAINING Library Services (Re-advertisement)

University of Botswana Library is seeking a proactive and self-driven Senior Librarian to coordinate In-Service training programmes. The Library has a workforce of over 110 staff at professional and technical level.

Duties: The successful candidate will be responsible for: (i) Planning, coordinating and organizing in-service training to support changing professional roles and sustain currency in requisite professional competencies for effective efficient customer services in support of teaching, learning and research at the University. (ii) Provide leadership and coordinate research activities in the library for transformational and effective user-centered services and the implementation of the learning, teaching and research policy. (iii) Maintain professional knowledge of trends in libraries and higher education and a strategic awareness of the role of technology in libraries; Demonstrate initiative in proposal, development and pilot training activities against benchmarked services that exploit emergent technologies; (iv) Collaborate with CAD and librarians to develop course inked online learning initiatives; (v) Collaborate with other trainers who provide appropriate training to library staff.

Requirements: Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies and a Bachelor’s degree with a combined major, Plus a minimum of five years relevant work experience at Librarian level in an academic library or comparable institution, four of which should have been spent in teaching or training; sound knowledge of academic library organization and professional services. Demonstrated research competencies and ability to provide dynamic leadership in a climate of change, proven ability in the implementation of appropriate integration and use of various ICTs, electronic databases in academic library practice. Experience in working with eLearning platforms/technology or web based learning would be highly essential. Excellent communication and good pedagogical skills for facilitation of student learning through use of ICT in discipline linked information literacy programs; Excellent supervisory and mentorship skills; Working knowledge of INNOPAC will be an added advantage.
