Agriculture Value Chain Development Coordinator, Central America ACDI/VOCA

Agriculture Value Chain Development Coordinator, Central America ACDI/VOCA is seeking an experienced, dynamic and innovative Agriculture Value Chain Development Coordinator for a regional trade development project focused in Central America. The project will work toward reaching higher levels of inclusive economic growth to eradicate hunger and poverty, and enable expansion of intraregional trade and exports through consolidated regional value chains and export market access for food and nutrition-critical products. The Agriculture Value Chain Development Coordinator’s responsibilities and qualifications include but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities: • Implement programmatic interventions to improve the competitiveness of the horticulture and specialty crops sectors in light of market opportunities and constraints. • Work with the Agriculture Value Chain Development Specialist to support providers of trade information and services that will aid producers’ entry into local, regional and international markets, including quality and grading systems, import requirements, customs and borders procedures, and contact points. • Work with producers’ associations and enterprises to develop their capacity to identify and respond to business opportunities (e.g., buyer contracts). Liaise between agribusiness organizations and smallholder farmers’ associations to introduce new technologies that help facilitate improved and increased production, value-added production and processing. • Facilitate workshops, events (e.g., trade fairs) and meetings that establish dialogue and activity between key stakeholders in the selected value chains

Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agricultural economics or related field from an accredited university is required. Advanced degree preferred. • Minimum of five years’ field experience in agricultural development, agribusiness, and/or trade working with export markets/niche products. • Knowledge of and experience in facilitating buyer-seller market linkages. • Familiarity with regional, cross-border, and international trade procedures, policies, and quality standard requirements for agriculture. • Minimum of five years’ experience in Central America. • Fluency in Spanish is required.
