Facilities Maintenance Assistant ECHA

It provides the Member States and the EU institutions with the best possible scientific and technical advice on issues relating to the chemicals under REACH Regulation. ECHA is responsible for managing, and in some cases carrying out, the technical, scientific and administrative aspects of REACH, and ensuring consistency at Community level in its application. 1. THE JOB
The Facilities Maintenance Assistant will work in the Resources Directorate of the Agency, in Corporate Services Unit. She/He will be part of the Facility Management team and may assist the Conference Services or Security Teams. S/He will be responsible for the following tasks related to office support services of the Agency:
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance of the building and its infrastructure;
- Perform installations, disassembling, repairs and maintenance of furniture;
- Arrange office, meeting and conference facilities according to room set-up specifications;
- Carry out internal office removals;
- Resolve and following-up inquiries and requests from ECHA staff received by e-mail, telephone or through the incident management tool, Remedy ticketing system;
- Support the logistics aspects of the Unit such as: receiving deliveries, moving of assets, etc.;
- Report staff concerns on health and safety risk issues to the Facilities Manager;
- Liaise with external contractors who provide services related to electricity, building and waste management, cooling, cabling, etc.;
- Provide data and support to the activities related to asset management;
- Assist the Facilities Management team in making sure that the Agency operates in accordance with the Finnish fire prevention regulations and practises;
- Assist in the mechanical and access-control key management;
- Perform any other duties related to the job.
2. QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
In order to be eligible for this profile, you must have successfully completed compulsory education and you must have minimum one (1) year of professional experience relevant to the job, attained after the fulfilment of the compulsory education.
Only qualifications issued by EU Member State authorities or EEA authorities and qualifications recognized as equivalent by the relevant EU or EEA Member State authorities will be accepted.
3. SELECTION
If you meet the eligibility criteria set out in section 2, you will be assessed on the basis of the following selection criteria. The candidates who are judged to be the most suitable on the basis of the selection criteria will be invited to an interview.
- Your academic and professional qualifications and their relevance to the main areas of work listed in section 1;
- Your professional experience: the range of fields covered;
- The type and level of work done and its relevance to the areas of work listed in section 1;
The following will be considered as assets:
- Work experience gained in an international environment, for at least six consecutive months;
- Knowledge of Finnish language (At least C1 level).
The academic and professional qualifications, professional experience and knowledge and experience considered as an asset must be described in the ECHA CV.
4. INTERVIEW
If selected for interview, you will be assessed in the interview on the basis of the following criteria:
- Knowledge and understanding of the areas of work listed in section 1;
- Basic understanding of the role and aims of ECHA;
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English and Finnish;
- Capacity for team work in a multicultural environment.
Ability to:
- Recognise the importance of safety in the workplace;
- Follow safety rules and practice safe work habits;
- Utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to Facility Manager;
- Ability to prioritize efficiently and work in a timely manner;
- Strong customer service orientation;
- Flexibility and sense of initiative;
- Computer literacy.
Your ability to communicate in written English and the knowledge and competencies related to the job will be also assessed by practical tests.
