Job Description

Applicants are invited for this position at the European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders of the Member States of the European Union (Frontex), established under Council Regulation (EC) No 2007/2004, as last amended2, hereinafter, the Regulation. Frontex is located in Warsaw, Poland and its main tasks are the following:
  • coordinate operational cooperation between Member States in the field of management of external borders;
  • assist Member States in the training of national border guards, including the establishment of common training standards;
  • carry out risk analyses;
  • follow up the development of research relevant for the control and surveillance of external borders;
  • assist Member States in circumstances requiring increased technical and operational assistance at external borders;
  • provide Member States with the necessary support in organising joint return operations.

THE INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES (ICT) UNIT
The Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Unit has the following tasks:
  • planning of the development of ICT infrastructure and services in view of meeting Frontex needs in the field of ICT;
  • ensuring the operation of the existing ICT infrastructure and services, including monitoring and administration of ICT systems;
  • maintaining the security of Frontex ICT systems in cooperation with the Security Officer and Agency Services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Head of ICT Unit, the ICT Operations Manager is responsible for:
  • planning and organising the work of the subordinated staff;
  • managing, guiding and supervising the staff reporting to him/her;
  • contribution to the management of the ICT Unit and close and proactive liaison with other teams of
  • the unit;
  • activating and coordinating the following ICT Processes:
- defining and managing ICT Service Levels;
- managing third-party services;
- managing the ICT performance and capacity;
- ensuring continuous ICT services;
- ensuring the ICT Systems security;
- identifying and allocating ICT costs;
- educating and training users;
- managing the ICT configuration;
- managing ICT problems;
- managing data;
- managing the ICT physical environment;
- managing ICT operations.
