NATIONAL DIRECTOR

The National Director will strategically lead, develop and direct the implementation of all aspects of the World Vision South Africa Ministry as an effective member of the Partnership, in line with the Twin Citizenship principles, to ensure high-quality Ministry and high impact in the field. He/she will thus be accountable for all aspects of WV’s work in the country and will provide leadership, strategic direction and support in the development and implementation of an effective National Resource Development Strategy.

Major responsibilities: • Ensure that the office has a high-quality Christian Commitment strategy and operations plan that is appropriate for the country context • Ensure the implementation of effective ministry to all key stakeholders • Lead and manage the WV South Africa team in a way that facilitates a high performance culture • Represent WV South Africa by engaging and building strategic alliances with the Government, WV South Africa board, major donor agencies, WV Partnership, non-governmental agencies, churches and the media • Manage the overall financial integrity of the programme • Ensure action planning and execution to resolve audit findings • Maintain and regularly review security and safety plans and protocols • Monitor the implementation of peer review recommendations.

Minimum requirements: • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Management or Social Sciences (an advanced/postgraduate degree is preferred) • At least 5 years experience in governance activities • Computer skills • Proven leadership and management skills • Proven decision-making skills • Proven visionary and strategic abilities • Experience in leading executive teams and working with the Boards of Directors • Good knowledge of financial management • Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal) • The ability to work under pressure • The ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and other stakeholders • An understanding of the humanitarian industry • An understanding of WV’s mission and operations • Innovative thinking.
