Transnet Rail Engineering, an operating division of Transnet SOC Limited, requires the services of the following suitably qualified person at its office in Kilner Park:

Reporting directly to the Strategy and Continuous Improvement Manager, the incumbent will provide functional expertise in monitoring current processes, identify and analyse gaps and develop process improvements systematically. He/she will analyse the business information to help identify business performance trends and problems and propose solutions within the systems development life cycle domain, as well as apply analytical skills to business requests and communicate these business requirements/needs where necessary.

Primary outputs: • Gather and interpret relevant data (costs, productivity, demand patterns, etc) • Investigate problems, find root causes, and propose solutions • Develop periodic performance reports and distribute them to stakeholders • Provide analytical support for projects, new business opportunities and proposals • Develop a robust infrastructure that facilitates continuous monitoring of key sourcing performance data, gather feedback from stakeholder groups, coordinate business unit collection of required data, synthesise and analyse reported data and generate concise monthly summaries of supply management’s performance against forecasts • Use database management and Access/Excel spreadsheet analysis to help the organisation increase customer satisfaction and employee productivity • Liaise with all relevant stakeholders and obtain input on an ongoing basis • Assist the team by making adjustments and accounting for changes in terms of order books and/or other operational changes that will affect business performance • Develop tracking methodology and templates.

Minimum requirements: • BSc degree in Computer Science or BTech in Industrial Engineering • 3-5 years’ experience (proven track record) as a Business Analyst, or experience in the ICT environment.

Knowledge: • Project management, principles, process and practices • Expert knowledge of all MS Office packages • Knowledge of business process improvement principles and practices • Knowledge of SAP • Knowledge of feasibility studies methodology • In-depth knowledge of SAP tables and data structures • Advanced ability to query databases using SQL or MS Access • Ability to import and export data between SAP and database tools, design tables, queries and reports.
