Consultant (Communications Specialist)

World Food Programme, Indonesia invites applications from the eligible candidates for the following position: 

Position : Consultant (Communications Specialist) 

Contract Type : Special Service Agreement 

Duration : 10 weeks 

Duty Station : Jakarta 

Accountabilities: 

Under the direct supervision of Donor and Private Sector Relations Officer, the consultant shall work in close collaboration with WFP management, pillar focal points and PI Assistant to carry out the following duties: 

- Raise awareness among the general public in Indonesia on food and nutrition security; 
- Create positive change to support WFP work on food and nutrition security; 
- Raise awareness on the importance of the first 1000 days and child stunting prevention; 
- Support the ongoing government efforts in Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN); 
- Advocate the importance of food fortification; 
- Collaborate with national key stakeholders on fortification efforts;

Finalize a communication strategy and action plan to raise awareness on food and nutrition security which include a systematic list of communication channels and media to be used, tailor at different levels(national, provincial, district, community); key messages to be prioritized; key stakeholders and partnership to be sought; timeliness and initiatives by priority order; 

Conceptualize and execute 1 major advocacy campaign reaching at least 1,000 stakeholders on local foods, food diversification through healthy eating campaign.

Qualifications and Experiences: 

Education:
University degree in one or more of the following disciplines: journalism (preferably foreign correspondence and international media, international relations, communications or other related fields.

Experience:
Proven track record in communications/public information (PI)/advocacy work, and in executing a media campaign in Indonesia and Asia, including field experience. At least five years of postgraduate progressively responsible professional experience as a journalist, public information office or professional writer as well as experience in developing information strategies and programmes within the country context. 

Knowledge:
Basic knowledge of food/nutrition security and development work. General knowledge of UN system policies, rules, regulations and procedures would be advantageous.

Language:
Fluency in both oral and written English and Bahasa Indonesia. 

Skills:
Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical skills are essential.
