Technical Officer I, Global Connections in Washington, DC

Project Summary:
The LEGADA project is an online training program and educational initiative working to address the issue of domestic abuse.   Serving multiple language communities, LEGADA builds and supports a virtual network of lawyers working on domestic abuse issues, disseminates information to raise public awareness, and educates victims on their rights and available legal and support services.
Position Summary:
The Technical Officer I works with the Senior Technical Officer to manage and support LEGADA’s legal network working within its Farsi/Dari/Tajik language community project components.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Supports development of strategy and implementation plans;
  • Conducts outreach and recruitment and coordinates selection;
  • Manages advertising;
  • Manages and coordinates support for network (including communications, support requests, etc);
  • Coordinates sessions between counselors and beneficiaries and manages associated data collection and tracking;
  • Monitors, strengthens, and maintains internal protocols and policies, and reporting;
  • Supports Project Manager and Senior Technical Officer in implementation of project monitoring and evaluation activities, analysis and technical report writing;
  • Administers project database;
  • Conducts program related research, technical content development of project materials and resources, translation, and special projects as requested.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Master's degree and at least two years of office/administrative work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key responsibilities of the job. 3 year(s) of relevant experience preferred
  • Written and oral proficiency in Farsi, Dari, or Tajik language
  • Experience and/or interest in domestic abuse issues and/or domestic abuse law
  • Strong organizational skills, including task and time management. Proven ability to take responsibility, initiative, be flexible and work independently;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate activities in multiple locations, and to be responsive, meet deadlines, and act decisively in daily work;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to play an active role in team environment essential;
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills;
  • Excellent computer skills to include word processing and spreadsheet software, and experience with databases
