El Salvador Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist


Education: A Master's degree in forestry, biodiversity, geomatics, environmental science, ecology, or related discipline, is strongly preferred.
Language Proficiency: Level IV (Fluency) English and Spanish level IV is required
Work Experience: At least five years of experience working in forestry, especially with regard to deforestation and forest degradation data collection/monitoring, forest carbon assessments, land use and land use change monitoring, UNFCCC and other monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) standards and guidelines strongly preferred. Proven experience in integrating MRV methodologies into policy planning and capacity building will be considered a plus.
Position Description: Responsibilities of the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist may include, but are not limited to the following: The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialist will be responsible for the reporting and quantifying of direct and Indirect Program results and for overall monitoring of the performance monitoring plan (PMP). The M&E Specialist will be responsible for the following tasks: (1) define data collection, monitoring and evaluation methodologies as needed, (2) begin the process to conduct baseline data surveys as well as intermediate results surveys as required, (3) develop and lead data collection efforts required to generate credible and reliable information on program impacts, (4) anticipate issues related to quantifying performance plan targets and take the necessary and appropriate actions to ensure that the program meets its reporting objectives, (5) maintain database of M&E data to include milestones and targeted results, (6) prepare M&E section of required reports including but not limited to monthly progress reports, quarterly and annual reports, for input into the annual work plan, (7) responsible for other M&E-related activities required by for the successful implementation of the program.
