Project Manager I in North Dakota

Position Description:
 
In 2011, the Hess Corporation and the State of North Dakota announced the launch of Succeed 2020, a new initiative that seeks to improve students’ preparation for college and careers. The overarching goal for Succeed 2020 is successful transition from school to college and careers for all North Dakota students. Specifically, Succeed 2020 will focus on improving the state’s education and workforce development outcomes by increasing ACT scores, increasing the number of students who complete high school and college on time, and decreasing the need for remedial courses at the postsecondary level. Achievement of this goal will require active participation of multiple stakeholders, including state and local leaders, school districts, educational institutions, Native American groups, and the Hess Corporation. FHI 360 is the intermediary technical support organization.

The Succeed 2020 Project Manager I is a 28-hour per week position that will be based in North Dakota.  The Coordinator will be part of the FHI 360 team managing and implementing the initiative's objectives. (This team includes individuals based in Washington, DC, New York, and Chattanooga.)  He/she will be FHI 360’s local representative for the Succeed 2020initiative, maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, providing and supporting technical assistance to North Dakota grantees.  The individual will report to one of the two co-directors.
 
 
Job Responsibilities:
 
  • Design, implement, and coordinate specific project activities such as semi-annual convenings, cross-site technical assistance trainings and other activities as assigned.
  • Collaborate with FHI 360 staff on project implementation and strategic planning.
  • Conduct outreach activities to inform and engage potential ND-based partners.
  • Develop presentations and contribute to reports and briefing papers.
  • Lead the Succeed 2020 presence at key in-state conferences and other external events such as public meetings, seminars, and presentations.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze project information for reporting purposes.
  • Support delivery of cross-site technical assistance to North Dakota grantees, including direct delivering TA, as appropriate.
  • Coordinate communication about Succeed 2020 to: state associations; state, local, and regional stakeholder organizations (e.g., regional economic development agencies and state and local chambers of commerce); and the general public.
  • Provide event planning and logistical support for cross-site meetings and conferences, including identification of venues, assistance with agenda development, and communication with sites
  • Maintain calendar of events; create opportunities for Succeed 2020 representatives to speak and/or provide information at relevant conferences or other public venues.
  • Document project accomplishments.
  • Work with project evaluation documentation team on logistics and planning.
 
Minimum Requirements: 
 
Bachelor’s degree plus seven years of relevant work experience or a master’s degree and five years of relevant experience; experience in K-12 education, higher education, and/or workforce development; strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently in designing and implementing activities and also as part of a team; experience managing creative projects, including special events; knowledge of North Dakota communities and education policies preferred;  ability to communicate orally and in writing  clearly, creatively, and persuasively; attention to detail; ability to set priorities and meet deadlines while juggling multiple responsibilities;  facilitation skills preferred; and ability to develop relationships among organizations and proficiency in computer technology applications.
