Timor-Leste Advocacy Officer - HIV/AIDS

Help shape an advocacy program aimed at increasing treatment literacy among Timorese people living with HIV, and ensuring that their rights are addressed at a policy and community level.
Estrela Plus equips people with HIV and AIDS with the knowledge to manage their condition and achieve a healthier life. It also helps its members to advocate for their rights at a policy level and works with community leaders and partner organisations to reduce stigma at the community level.
Its current priorities are to improve treatment literacy and address cultural misunderstandings among people living with HIV, as well as improving coordination with the Ministry of Health and other national and international stakeholders.
An AVID volunteer is being sought to support Estrela Plus in the further professionalisation of its advocacy programs. The volunteer will mentor and train staff in program management, donor liaison, writing proposals, reporting and building relationships with local and international partner organisations.
This is a volunteer assignment under the Australian Volunteers for International Development (AVID) program, an Australian Government, AusAID initiative. Airfares, living allowances, accommodation, insurance and other support is provided through the program.
