Application Specialist - Canada

Dormer Tools,a leading manufacturer of High Speed Steel and carbide round tools, and part of the world leading SMS Group, is looking for an Application Specialist at the Mississauga site.
The Role
The Application Support Specialist is responsible for working closely with the sales and services organization through product testing, trouble shooting and process improvements. Under general direction, performs duties to support internal and external customers for all Dormer brands with a primary focus on indexable tools in order to secure profitable market share growth and budget attainment in accordance with established protocols, practices and procedures. The position is local to the Mississauga area.
Key Performance Areas
  • Fulfill all the requirements of this position, including requirements related to the company's Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System Policies and procedures
  • Travel throughout the assigned sales region supporting the local sales team by focusing on primary targeted end users and channel partners for growth opportunities with all Dormer product lines
  • Provide technical and sales support as the Application Specialist for end-user, channel partners and the sales team as needed to facilitate the closing of the sale
  • Drive new product introduction through the sales force via training, joint sales call activity and testing activities
  • Meet and exceed team objectives, including: sales budgets, sales support, new products, and costs control
  • Support organization with the highest level of technical knowledge with a focus on Sales growth, profitability and market share increases
  • Review productivity reports, etc. from customers and sales representatives, recommend, support and assist in closing sales with key targeted end users
  • Coordinate problem resolution with manufacturingengineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs, identify quality issues and/or facilitation of modifications
  • Assist in developing educational materials and bulletins based on field investigations, engineering changes
  • Provide a communication link between the customer and the company to ensure effective service is provided to the customer
  • Develop and conduct training to customers and channel partners as well as inside and outside sales teams on the proper selection and application of products
Your Profile
  • Knowledge of metal removal manufacturing with a strong focus on indexable tooling
  • Proficiency in MS Office; Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills, oral and written
  • Highly motivated; strong organizational skills
  • 5 yrs. sales experience of metal removal tooling – primarily indexable and round tools cutting tool technical support experience is preferred
  • Disciplined self-starter; ability to multitask and customer service focused
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally is required
