What’s Audience Technology and Insight about?
It’s something completely new. We’re applying cutting-edge analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques so we can better understand our audiences and build stronger relationships with them across multiple platforms. It’s meant a big change for us as we shift from relational databases and backward looking analytics to big data platforms with real time and predictive analytics.
Applying analytics like this in the broadcast industry has never been done before. So you’ll be part of a ground-breaking team that’s ensuring Channel 4 thrives in the evolving world of connected viewing. You could be involved in any number of areas – like using machine learning to profile the typical Made in Chelsea fan for example, or employing data visualisation to chart the lifecycle of a Channel 4 comedy.
By developing relationships with our audience and getting to know their behaviours and preferences, we can help Channel 4 achieve its commercial and creative goals. Using data and insights gives us the power to deliver real innovation both to advertisers and viewers in the form of more tailored experiences.
It’s a revolutionary approach that saw us top the table at Marketing Week’s Data Strategy Awards 2014. We not only won the Data Storytelling Award for our UK Tribes research initiative, but for our Viewer Engagement Strategy too. What’s more, we are one of the first organisations in Europe to use embryonic technology that’s come straight from Silicon Valley. Such technologies include Hadoop, Spark, Shark, H20, D3, Kenesis, Storm, R, Mahout and others.
What’s in it for you?
It’s a chance for you to build your skills and experience with our team as you help us deep mine the data we will collect on our viewers. Plus you can take advantage of opportunities as they arise, to fast-track to a more senior leadership role. There’s also additional training and coaching throughout the programme, as well as planned career development tailored to your needs, interests and professional ambitions.
*The Creative Media Leadership Award is a flexibly-delivered postgraduate qualification aimed at rising stars in television and interactive media industries, providing specific, contextualised quality leadership and management training.
If that sounds like your kind of future, apply now.
Closing date: 22 July 2014.
Our commitment to diversity doesn’t end with our programming.
