Compliance & Ethics Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:
The Compliance and Ethics Specialist will work collaboratively with International Medical Corps management to support select portions of the organization’s compliance and ethics program. S/He must successfully monitor, manage, and report compliance activities and violations across all areas of the company in order to ensure compliance with particular regulatory requirements and related internal policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Monitor and report the results of International Medical Corps’ compliance efforts across all areas of the organization with a focus on USA Patriot Act and OFAC compliance.
• Manage the accuracy of the OFAC compliance database by regular monitoring of the database, oversight of user accounts, and ensuring records are complete.
• Monitor the use of the export compliance software solution by coordinating with responsible departments on employee travel, equipment purchases, international shipments, etc.
• Assist senior management in designing, writing and implementing several aspects of International Medical Corps’ compliance program
• Receive and direct compliance issues to the appropriate resources for investigation and resolution.
• Ensure that select company policies and procedures are being followed by monitoring business transactions and reporting violations to the appropriate departmental management and General Counsel
• Identify areas of organizational vulnerability and risk and work with management to mitigate
• Work with Human Resources to develop effective compliance training for new hires, and additional on-going training for staff and management
• Keep abreast of new compliance issues and report to management
• Conduct ongoing research in connection with federal, state, and foreign laws and regulations that affect select policies and procedures of the organization.
• Work with International Medical Corps’ management to encourage, promote and enhance a culture that encourages ethical conduct and commitment to compliance
• Participate in working groups and special projects as assigned.
Skills & Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Management, Law, Human Resources, Finance or other compliance-related field with a minimum of five years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong understanding of risk management and organization-wide ethics and compliance programs.
• Experience designing and implementing ethics/compliance programs and training.
• Knowledge of US government regulations applicable to recipients of USG funding, including regulations administered by OFAC, BIS, OFCCP, OMB (e.g., 2 CFR 200)
• Knowledge of US federal employment regulations, including, but not limited to FLSA, Executive Order 11246, Title VII, ADA, ADEA
• Commitment to doing business to the highest ethical standards for employees, contractors, suppliers, partners and other stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, project management, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
• Unwavering integrity and ethics in business and personal conduct
