Position Summary

The Europe E&P Finance organisation is designed to align with and support the Europe E&P Asset organisation. Reporting to the VP Finance, the Technical Finance Team, led by the Technical Finance Manager provides support to the VP, Operate, Europe E&P.
Situated within the Technical Finance team, the role of Cost Control Project Accountant is responsible for upgrading existing cost management and forecasting systems.

Key Accountabilities

The post holder is a member of the Technical Finance Team. Specific responsibilities are to play a key role in the development of cost management systems including:
Cost Control
  • Updates, tracks and reports all expenditure at Budget level.
  • Report monthly / annual / ITD Forecast accuracy.
  • Short interval control
  • Monitors commitments against Budget.
  • Maintain & develop the cost management process. Liaise with Budget holders each month to define agreed variations to budget/forecast
  • Run system of reporting & KPI’s
  • Regular updates of costs/KPI’s to budget holders
  • Annual Budget (JV Budget)
  • Annual Business Plan (Inputs into BG budget and business plan process)
  • Interface with internal customers
  • Enhance robust cost management culture in Europe E&P Asset
  • Business context: support cost management of Operated platforms (mainly Armada Hub, Everest and Lomond);
 
Cost Control Improvement Project
  • Lead delivery of project scope and plan
  • Flowchart the current and future process for budget and actual
  • Identify opportunities for further rationalization of current cost control structure
  • Liaise with Integrated planning manager to ensure financial data (planning / actual) is consistent with Integrated Planning information
  • Develop parallel controls to manage Flotel campaign costs
 
Reporting
  • Manage consolidated reports and provide information to the Business
  • Support the monthly cost review meetings with Operate budget holders
Management of VOWD/Forecast
  • Strengthen relation with Business Object and Maximo teams to ensure robust data output from systems
  • Coach technical team on managing budget and VOWD
 
Inventory
  • Improve financial aspects of inventory management
  • Strengthen relation with Materials Management team

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute


·          Qualified accountant.
·          Must be able to understand BG Finance process and procedures and be capable of using them to add value to the Europe E&P business.
·          Experienced in presenting financial reporting data, capable of drilling down to the critical points for a management or non-finance audience.
·          Previous experience within a finance function.
·          Working knowledge of SAP, BPC, BI and Excel.
·          Knowledge of the Oil and Gas Industry preferred.
·          Numerate with a good grasp of accounting fundamentals.
·          Sound knowledge of oil & gas accounting and technical accounting background.
·          Highly computer literate with excellent analytical skills.
·          High attention to detail and accuracy.
·          Strong working knowledge of SAP, BPC, BW, Excel & PowerPoint.
·          Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
·          Performance focused, demonstrates the ability to plan and organise a
large volume of activity, committed and capable of working under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
·          Demonstrates initiative and creativity to discover and implement new ways of team working.
·          Ability to deal with set-backs and not to be deflected from achieving targets.
