Exploration Petroleum Engineer
The Organisation
QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets.
We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel.
QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors.

Position Summary
The purpose of the role is to provide operational support to the Cooper & Bowen Deep Gas Exploration teams focussing on well test planning and analysis.
Key Accountabilities
Position Specific• Define well testing requirements and test programmes
• Liaise with Production Technology, Completions and Drilling to ensure operations consistent with acquisition of reservoir data according to testing programmes
• Responsible for the analysis of well test results and integration into type curve modelling
• Responsible for analysis of other test data (e.g. wireline pressures, LOTs, DFITs etc.)
• Manage databases involving any information regarding the reservoir
• Provide support to reservoir modelling workflows as required
• Submissions of reports on findings and tasks which have been completed or still require work
People Management• The incumbent must adhere to the annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes
Health Safety Security and Environment (HSSE)• Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition to any specific accountabilities for HSSE, all employees are accountable for ensuring that they take care of themselves and adopt exemplary safe behaviours
• All QGC employees must adhere to the Business Principles at all times under Conduct, Our People, Society and HSSE and to participate in relevant training

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience• Experience of working in a similar role, preferably in Shale Gas / Tight Gas Sand plays
• Strong operational focussed background
• Competent in designing and executing well test programmes
• Experienced in area of analysis of well test data and well performance (including competency in Pressure Transient Analysis)
• Solid understanding of data acquisition methods
• Awareness of reservoir surveillance disciplines
• Awareness of and understands company and industry standards and is knowledgeable in the application of functional assurance processes
• Ability to apply HSE principles within a technical area
• Strong operational focussed background
• Competent in designing and executing well test programmes
• Experienced in area of analysis of well test data and well performance (including competency in Pressure Transient Analysis)
• Solid understanding of data acquisition methods
• Awareness of reservoir surveillance disciplines

Knowledge, Languages, Skills and Attributes• Engineering Degree preferred Petroleum; Chemical, Mechanical or other related majors accepted
• Intermediate use and knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Competency in use of Saphir
• Effective communication skills and an ability to make presentations
• Team player with a collaborative approach to working with peers and development of a team culture
• Proven experience in solving problems and suggesting possible alternatives
• Demonstrated ability to develop reports and recommendations to highlight results of data analysis
• Self-starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision
• Intermediate use and knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Competency in use of Saphir
• Effective communication skills and an ability to make presentations
