Compensation Manager

Job Summary/Background:
The Compensation Manager oversees the development, implementation, and administration of the organization’s compensation. He/she makes recommendations for maintenance and changes in compensation to deliver on CRS’ Talent Management objectives and competitive position in the marketplace. The Manager will also review CRS’ organizational design and advise departments on design issues, job descriptions and classifications.

Job Responsibilities:
- Manage compensation system currently in place for both international and domestic staff, including compensation adjustments due to promotions, transfers, merit and technical reviews. Conduct periodic surveys and analysis to maintain competitive and equitable salary structure.
- Develop and deliver communications on CRS’ salary structure and compensation for CRS Managers and employees, including guidelines, on-line webinars, workshops, trainings and other communication vehicles as appropriate.
- Serve as advisor and coach management and staff on compensation and organizational design issues.
- Assist in the development and design of organizational structures.
- Review and manage system for introducing job control and establishing standards in job evaluation and management.
- Analyze data and prepare ad hoc employee compensation reports for business units and management.
- Manage the Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA) and Per Diem review process and serve as point-of-contact for related questions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
One (1) direct report (Compensation Specialist)

Key Working Relationships:
Internal: HR Directors and Managers, HQ and Overseas Managers, Employees
External: Compensation Specialists within International NGOs professional groups

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field; CCP preferred
- Eight to ten years of human resources experience with five or more years in compensation related to job evaluation, data acquisition and analysis, salary survey completion and analysis, job description writing and pay policies interpretation.
- Knowledge of employment laws related to compensation, FLSA, and wage and hour laws
- Experience with broad banding preferred.
- Experience in the design and development of organizational structures preferred.
- Experience with HR systems; HRMS conversion with J.D. Edwards, PeopleSoft or ADP is preferred.
- Experience working in an international organization dealing with expatriate practices strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with use of MS Office suite: Word, Excel, and Power Point

Physical Requirements/Environment:
Normal conditions akin to an office environment based in Baltimore at CRS headquarters; willingness and ability to travel overseas
