Chief Executive Officer

Global e-Schools and Communities Initiative ("GeSCI") is an international non-governmental, not-for-profit organization and established and established by the UN ICT Task Force in 2003. GeSCI works directly with government agencies particularly the Ministries of Education and other Ministries in providing strategic advice and building capacities in the use of ICT in education, learning and innovation for development of inclusive knowledge societies.

GeSCI is seeking to recruit a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization during its next phase of development as a designated international organization. Reporting to the Chairman and the Board, the CEO will be responsible for the leading and managing the organization as stipulated in GeSCI's strategies and policies approved by the Board.

Key responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan together with suitable staff and Board;
  • Develop financial and human resources systems to deliver the strategic plan;
  • Communicate the strategy to the key strategic partners and seek their commitment to GeSCI's model;
  • Develop and maintain key strategic partnerships with governments and other stakeholders particularly development agencies and partner countries;
  • Ensure there is sufficient funding through business development and fund raising activities;
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports to the Board,
  • Provide regular updates on key stakeholder relationships, business plans and programmes;
  • Ensure the highest standard of internal controls;
  • Oversee monitoring and evaluation of programmes and staff; and
  • Institute best in class internal management reporting and corporate governance practices.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelors and Masters degree in business or social sciences; A Doctorate qualification would be an added advantage;
  • A minimum of 10 years senior level management experience leading an organisation operating in some of the following domains: international development consultancy, public policy advisory, management or strategic advisory;
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in partnerships and networks to establish long-term funding;
  • Experience in working on international development issues on education, capacity building and/or ICT for development;
  • Experience in and/or have knowledge of the not-for-profit sector and dealing with government departments, NGOs, donors, private sector and international organisations;
  • Good understanding of development issues and the needs of developing countries;
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills; and
  • Knowledge of French or Spanish will be an added advantage.
