Emergency Response / Disaster Risk Reduction Advisor

For the Cordaid field office Sudan, Juba, Cordaid is looking for a Emergency Response / Disaster Risk Reduction Advisor

Country: Sudan

Duty station: Juba, South Sudan

Vacancy number: 7/11

Introduction

Cordaid currently works in Sudan exclusively through local partner organisations. Cordaid's main areas of assistance in Sudan are access to basic services (particularly health care), economic empowerment, women's rights, local capacities for peace and citizenship and participation. Strategies of intervention include strategic financing, capacity building; linking and learning and lobby. As part of Cordaid's new strategic plan for 2011-2015, we intend to expand and strengthen our relationships with local partner organisations in both North and South Sudan.

To address the plight of the large number of returnees and IDPs that have settled in different parts of South Sudan as a result of the January 2011 referendum and other humanitarian emergencies, Cordaid together with local and international Caritas partners is involved in programmes to strengthen the emergency preparedness and response as well as the disaster risk reduction capacities of its partner organizations and the communities they work in.
