Job Description

The Air Traffic and Navigation Services Company Limited of South Africa (ATNS) provides air traffic services throughout the country and is responsible for the provision of the air traffic control and navigation system infrastructure necessary to ensure a safe and effective service.

Executive: Risk and Compliance

Applications are invited for the position of Executive: Risk and Compliance, based at Isando. The successful applicant will report to the Chief Executive Officer.

Major activities: * Advising Heads of Departments and staff on legal matters * Liaise with external auditors, external legal advisors and insurance brokers * Create a coherent governance function, which facilitates the achievement of ATNS strategic goals, objectives and business interests *l Procure necessary skills, competencies and resources * Establish an independent, professionally run internal audit function * Highlight where ATNS is exposed to financial, systems and other business risks * Ensure ATNS meets the standards laid down by the external auditors * Establish legal advisory services to provide a dedicated and professional legal service function that will support ATNS in its management of legal and related risk, intellectual property and contract law * Developing and implementing long term ATNS risk strategy * Define the philosophy and scope of risk management, organisation and practice within ATNS * Establish and implement audit programmes to cover perceived areas of major risk * Incorporate risk management disciplines and outputs into performance
agreements of ATNS executives, departments & functions* Ensure unnecessary litigation is avoided * Manage and lead the Risk and Compliance team in the achievement of set objectives and targets, as set out in the business plan * Prepare audit reports in the correct format, including recommendations for any improvement in systems * Conducting performance planning and appraisals of staff in accordance with the performance management system and the organisational strategy and plans. * Ensure adequate levels of competent staff are available, developed, monitored and maintained in order to meet operations outputs by setting requirements and criteria with internal service providers (HR function) * Prepare departmental and capital expenditure budgets * Manage departmental costs, motivate deviations and take corrective action, where necessary * Ensure insurance coverage of assets without incurring excessive premium and within the risk profile of ATNS and regulatory requirements l Keep abreast of regulatory, statutory and good governance reporting changes and ensure that ATNS is compliant in all respects.

Minimum qualifications: A relevant 4-year degree in Risk Management/Auditing/Law and/or qualification as a
CA(SA).

Minimum experience: * 10 years' relevant commercial experience in audit, risk, legal and quality management
* 5 years in a senior (multi-disciplinary) management role.
