POSITION SUMMARY

Supervision and management of financial activities of South Darfur office of World Vision Northern Sudan, assist the program in budgetary functions, ensure conformity with World Vision International reporting requirements and the stringent compliance standards established by each donor/ government/regulatory agency in managing grant projects

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Implement grant tracking/monitoring system, ensuring all relevant grants financial information of South Darfur program is accessible on a timely basis for reporting
- Ensure compliance of financial activities with donor’s and WV policy and regulation
- Ensure that procurement activities are done as per WV and Donor’s regulation
- Expedite the field based payments, summarize expenses, classify and code as per the budget line and make ready for financial report consolidation
- Follow up timely settlements of staff / business advance and ensure that all are current and cleared
- Assist the development of the grant budgets and Grant cash flow preparation with Area Coordinators and Sector heads
- Monitor actual grant expenditures against approved donor line items on a monthly basis; advice Program staff for any irregularities and make recommendations for future action
- Liaise with Area Coordinators and Sector head with regard to grant/budgetary issues and review monthly financial reports
- Meet with Area Coordinators and Sector heads on a monthly basis to address budget/grant status, review of financial report and financial matters
- Review Area offices financial documents, settle project expenses and process the reimbursement of the expenses to sub office
- Build the finance staff capacity by conducting grant and sun system training
- Train supervisors on general financial policy and Labor distribution report preparation
- Travel to Area offices and field to supervise and monitor the financial activities
- Ensure that Fixed Assets are properly tracked, regular inventory is conducted and the database is updated
- Timely preparation of National staff payroll and distribution of payments
- Ensure that accurate LDR’s are prepared and submitted on monthly basis for cost allocation
- Review the internal control systems and how it has been practiced and recommend strengthening when ever it is necessary
- Ensure proper management of Fuel Coupon and timely payments of bills
- Supervise, coach the activities of Finance staff and conduct interim and annual appraisal

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

REQUIRED:

- Must have a first degree in Accounting or Finance related fields
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant is preferable
- Requires at least five years related experience, preferably within World Vision. Previous grant accounting and budget preparation experience is preferred
- Computer knowledge, good ability of spreadsheet, finance software particularly Sun system
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and practical knowledge of financial systems and internal financial controls and procedures
- Requires good communication skills (oral and written) in English and the ability to make oral presentations in the donors' language
- Excellent management and administrative skills
- Ability to influence individuals and groups
- Ability to think clearly, deeply, and broadly
