Duties
AusAID is seeking to recruit a Health Adviser. The adviser will provide expertise in health development practice to staff working in Canberra and in AusAID’s Pacific country offices and work with development partners in the region. The Adviser will assist AusAID staff to design, develop and review Australian health assistance to the Pacific and contribute to improved coordination and harmonisation of donor support in the sector. The Adviser will be based in Canberra, but will be required to travel in the region to support and guide AusAID staff in country offices to engage with health and central ministries in Pacific island countries, regional organisations, bilateral and multilateral development partners and other stakeholders.
Eligibility / Other Requirements
This is a security assessed role and you will be required to either have, or be able to obtain a security clearance at Secret Level. Applicants should be Australian citizens however, consideration may be given to non Australian citizens. Qualifications required are: 1. Relevant post graduate qualification in international public health or related discipline. 2. Significant experience in health sector reform, public health and international development. 3. Extensive experience in working through partner government systems and sector wide approaches in developing countries. 4. Knowledge and experience of working with bilateral and multilateral development agencies including issues of aid effectiveness in the health sector.
