CIPE works with business leaders, think tanks, journalists and policymakers in over 100 countries to build the civic, economic and political institutions necessary for market-oriented democratic societies.

Job Summary:

CIPE is seeking to hire a Private Sector Development Specialist for the upcoming multi–year USAID funded Business Plus Initiative (BPI) project in Mongolia. This CIPE position will be based in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The BPI project is designed to support an enhanced role for the private sector in order for Mongolia to achieve a higher rate of economic growth by complementing and supporting the GOM's strategy to advance the following objectives:

Improved implementation of business enabling policies
Strengthened private sector capacity and competitiveness
Increased financial sector capacity and enabling environment


This CIPE position will manage the following components within the BPI project:

Support and facilitate the creation and/or strengthening of business associations in Mongolia, with a particular focus on mining and related industries
Support the associations in their efforts to obtain advice and guidance from outside experts, universities, think tanks and other relevant associations
Assist the newly-created and expanded associations in developing the capacity to engage in policy advocacy, disseminate information, coordinate with other organizations, and provide member services
Strengthen public-private dialogue, and cultivate opportunities for public-private partnerships
Improve corporate governance standards

Qualification:
Applicant Qualifications:

Minimum 10 years experience on international development projects designed to achieve meaningful and sustainable results in the areas of macro and micro economic development, private sector development, private sector competitiveness, local economic development and business association capacity building
A proven record of success operating in cross-cultural environments
Minimum 10 years of experience as an advisor in transition or developing countries, preferably in post command-control economies
Previous proven experience with USAID-funded contracts, preferably in project management roles
Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to dialogue, network and cooperate with donor agencies, international institutions and development partners
Good understanding of economic policy issues and experience in policy reform processes
Prior experience working in East and Central Asian markets, especially in Mongolia highly desired
Fluency in written and verbal English is required.
A university degree in business, economics, law, finance, or related field required; preferably at post-graduate level or its equivalent
