Report Editor/Reporting Capacity-Building Support Person

Purpose of the Position:

Reporting Capacity Building:
GOAL strives to support to its staff to build their capacity for report writing. Towards this objective, over 40 GOAL staff recently attended training provided by the British Council on report writing. In addition to this training, GOAL staff expressed an interest in receiving on-going coaching in the workplace to improve their report writing skills.

As such, during the employment period, the Report Editor/Reporting Capacity-Building Support Person is expected to provide one-on-one coaching and feedback to the authors of the reports targeted for editing. This should be primarily focused on improving the quality and depth of the content of the report; the structure and organization of the report; and the accuracy and specificity of the report.

Report Editing:
GOAL has recently conducted a number of internal evaluations on aspects of its Rural Development Programme (RDP). As a result of this endeavour, five reports must be edited and finalised within the employment period; these are detailed under “Deliverables.”

In keeping with the capacity-building aim described above, the Report Editor/Reporting Capacity-Building Support Person must find a balance between building the capacity of the original author in report writing and in editing the final product, both language and content, to an internationally-acceptable level.

Employment Period:
The employment period will be two months. Start date to be determined.

Deliverables:
• One final Livelihoods Three-project Evaluation Report (unedited document 20 pages)
• Two draft and one final CLTS Evaluation Reports (unedited document 15 pages)
• Two draft and one final for each of three CBA Evaluation Reports (unedited documents 20 pages each)
• Success stories from the field sites (Approximately 15)
• Other duties as assigned by the MEL Coordinator

Qualification and Experience Required:
• Excellent English writing and editing skills
• Experience writing reports, specifically evaluation reports
• Experience editing reports by English as a second language writers
• Experience coaching others on report writing
• Good interpersonal skills; sensitivity, tact, and ability to deliver feedback constructively
• Punctuality, ability to meet deadlines, ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to manage workload with minimal supervision

GOAL will also deduct the necessary withholding tax in accordance with the Federal Inland Revenue Income Tax Proclamation from the consultant(s).
