Supply Chain Manager

Directs the strategic planning, development, and implementation of program. Collaborates with representatives from private, government, and international agencies. Represents the program in various national and international fora. Conducts research, designs new initiatives, writes publishable articles and papers, collaborates with others, and designs programs. May supervise staff.

BACKGROUND:
Pfizer, Inc donates Zithromax® for the elimination of blinding trachoma. The International Trachoma Initiative manages the donation, coordinates country applications and forecasts to ensure good resource stewardship. Over the next several years the program expects a significant increase in the number of countries and number of treatments donated. Assisting countries in developing their supply chain for Zithromax® is an essential part of the ITI program and the Supply Chain Manager position.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The International Trachoma Initiative Associate Director (Supply Chain Manager) sets the global strategic direction for the supply chain of Zithromax®. The Associate Director will serve as primary liaison with Pfizer, Ministries of Health and independent consultants on matters related to long term forecasting, customs clearing, supply chain assessments, strengthening in country supply chain management, transportation, storage and distribution to ensure an adequate and secure supply.

The Associate Director (Supply Chain Manager) reports to the ITI Director and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Establishes and executes strategic direction for ITI global Supply Chain.
• Analyzes program supply chain needs and determines course of action to ensure an effective supply chain management system for the program.
• Responsible for oversight of day-to-day management of the Zithromax® supply chain, including developing solutions to customer service issues in coordination with partners.
• Coordinates with Pfizer supply chain manager to ensure production of material and on-time shipment,
• Gathers, analyzes, and reports quarterly program statistics,
• Creates long-term and annual forecasts of Zithromax® requirements,
• Coordinates product changes with Pfizer and program countries to ensure compliance with local regulatory bodies,
• Provides supervisory oversight to direct reports (logistics coordinator Anglophone, logistics coordinator Francophone, regional supply chain manager, Ethiopia based supply chain officer).
• Represents ITI at Supply Chain Management international meetings and participates in external committees as requested.
• Supports program expansion for new countries by evaluating their supply chain readiness and providing technical supply chain support.
• Coordinates and / or conducts supply chain audits of new countries
• Evaluates countries’ warehousing practices, advises or audits as necessary.
• Manages consultants to deliver scope of work on time and on budget.
• Monitors and provides updates on supply chain through reports, letters, briefings, or other written materials related to the supply chain.
• Leads development of supply chain training materials and other documentation to improve supply chain operations.
• Leads Zithromax® country annual application process. Works with recipient countries to project annual Zithromax® needs by evaluating distribution capabilities and inventory levels.
• Other adhoc projects as required.
• Participates fully as a member of the Task Force for Global Health by contributing, assisting and participating in projects, activities and initiatives, as requested by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in field related to specific program as indicated and five years program related experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. Master's degree preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s degree in Business Administration.
• Possess a high degree of planning, organizational, analytical and financial skills.
• Ability to partner and communicate with all levels of an organization.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Intermediate Microsoft Access or Filemaker database skills.
• Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint skills.
• Intermediate Microsoft Word skills.
• Ability to undertake Domestic and International Travel (25% - 30%).
• Ability to work and/or travel over weekends.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
• Working knowledge of French.
• APICS certified (certified supply chain professional).
• Experience working with developing countries.
