The U.S. Consulate General in Cape Town is seeking an individual for the position of Computer Management Assistant for the Information Programs Center (IPC).

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications Required: NOTE: ALL APPLICANTS MUST ADDRESS EACH SELECTION CRITERION DETAILED BELOW WITH SPECIFIC AND COMPREHENSIVE INFORMATION SUPPORTING EACH ITEM. Items 1-6 are ALL REQUIRED 1. Grade 12 plus certificate in CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft Window Server 2003, and Microsoft Exchange 2003. 2. Four years of IT professional experience in the areas of personal computers, local and wide area networking, commercial-off-the shelf (COTS) office automation software, network operating systems, IT industry standards, network protocols and technology trends. Must have a working understanding of Windows Server 2003 Active Directory structure.3. English level IV (fluent) writing/reading/speaking. 4. Must possess knowledge in the areas of personal computers, local and wide area networking, Commercial-off-the Shelf (COTS) office automation software, network operating systems, IT industry standards, network protocol, and technology trends.5. Ability to think logically and analyze problems, apply sound judgment to meet tight deadlines.6. Must possess the interpersonal skills to train and advise end users in various aspects of Information System and DOS systems policies.

Job Specification

Basic Function of Position: The position is responsible for the infrastructure, maintenance, administration, and operation of the Consulate General, Cape Town’ Sensitive but Unclassified Local Area Network (OpenNet) to include the proper installation, operation, maintenance, and optimization of all Department of State computers. The position will also be responsible for approving information technology hardware and software, and providing technical support and guidance to the Consulate.
