PIT SUPERINTENDENT (OPENCAST: STRIP MINING)

Mafube Colliery is an opencast mine situated 37km east of Middelburg. We have a vacancy in the following position and invite candidates wishing to make a meaningful contribution to the company to apply.

PIT SUPERINTENDENT (OPENCAST: STRIP MINING)

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe execution of all opencast mining operations and business in order to ensure continuous achievement of production targets. This will include ensuring that mining operational team capacity is developed, motivated and optimally resourced to effectively manage and execute mining operational activities.

The successful candidate needs a degree/National Diploma in Mining Engineering (NQF Level 6), an Opencast Coal Blasting Certificate or Blasting Certificate for Fiery Mines and a minimum of 6 years’ relevant experience in the opencast coal mining industry. A Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competence and a Management Development Programme/PME or equivalent would be advantageous. Extensive experience in assessing management principles around mining and related equipment and associated operational standards is essential, as is sound working knowledge of legislation relating to the mining industry eg Mine Health and Safety Act etc. We seek a person with good communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, a valid driver’s licence and a Certificate of Fitness (or be able to obtain one).
