Main Purpose:

The Centre for Learning, Teaching and Development invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Academic Staff Training Consultant.

The Training Consultant is expected to plan, manage, and coordinate initiatives aimed at developing academic staff in terms of capacity and excellence in their teaching and learning, and research responsibilities in support of the University’s core business.

S/he will also be expected to research and suggest innovative and strategic training and development programmes and interventions for academic staff.

Key Responsibilities:

The incumbent will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Drive training needs analysis processes for academic staff
  • Develop and customize CLTD training curricula
  • Support to individual academics and Schools in curriculum development and design, and implementation of appropriate pedagogical methods
  • Develop CLTD training material and resources
  • Evaluate training provision and effectiveness
  • Conduct training courses and facilitate workshops
  • Research into teaching and learning pedagogies
  • Supervise the Academic Staff Training Coordinator(s)

Requirements and Skills:

  • At least a Masters Degree with a Doctoral degree as a strong recommendation.
  • At least 6 years’ experience as an academic in Higher Education
  • Experience, qualifications and a research record in teaching and learning issues and / or in mentorship and development of early career academics.
