OVERVIEW:

Fairtrade International unites the producer-, market- and business-facing activities within the Fairtrade Labelling system. FLO eV develops the Fairtrade Standards; promotes the empowerment of Fairtrade-certified producers by supporting them in gaining and maintaining Fairtrade Certification and capitalizing on market opportunities; and facilitates global Fairtrade markets, to optimise benefits for producers.

The Global Account Management Unit creates the potential for exceptional opportunities for producers, and provides support for the growth of Fairtrade in consumer markets around the world.

The GAM operating procedures are outlined in an account engagement process, which provides operational direction for the roll out of the GAM initiative. The GAM Unit interacts both with the LIs through a Steering Committee of nominated cluster members and internally with all departments within FLO.

OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE:

Ensuring smooth operations in the GAM department to support the work of the Head of Global Accounts.

PRINCIPAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate on key account management, in close liaison with the Head of Global Accounts and nominated lead LI account representatives and the LI Steering Committee Chair.
  • Support the Head of Global Accounts on all GAM in the planning and preparing of weekly, monthly, yearly and longer term work programmes to roll out effective operational work streams.
  • Support the in-house development, ongoing operations and the future evolution of the GAM model, advising the Head of Global Accounts on both progress and shortfalls.
  • Ensure the fulfilment of the activities and milestones of the new account engagement process.
  • Coordinate LI and FLO eV units’ deliverables in the new account engagement process.
  • Manage the day-to-day administrative issues relating to the global account names and liaise with the relevant LI based account managers.
  • Work in close collaboration with Head of Global Accounts on maintaining existing relationships and on expanding the GAM client base.
  • Build and maintain a contact database for all significant associates to aid relationship building.
  • Provide support to the Head of Global Accounts for provision of client management and advice solutions
  • Be the "contact point" for the GAM client base in dealing with Fairtrade International’s internal departments in sourcing and licensing of products.
  • Prepare agendas, presentations and briefing memos for client meetings and Steering Committee meetings
  • Support the Head of Global accounts in the preparation and execution of client account plans.
  • Actively participate with special projects for GAM.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Level of education:

Bachelor degree or equivalent in economics, Business Administration, development, law or related fields

Knowledge/Job Specific Competencies:

  • 3 years professional experience
  • Knowledge or experience in the fields of commerce, key account management and/or customer service.
  • Experience in account and project management
  • Experience in coordination of working group activities.
  • Knowledge of development issues and intercultural communication
  • Experience in working with databases.
  • A proven track record of successfully managing and growing corporate client relationships,

Professional Skill Requirements:

Outstanding communication and relationship management skills
Excellent written skills.
Strong networking skills and able to build relationships across organizations and at all levels

Languages:

  • Fluency in English essential
  • Proficiency in German is desirable
  • Proficiency in Spanish would be an advantage

Personal Qualities:

  • Computer literate to intermediate/advanced level in Word, Excell, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize workload and complete within tight deadlines.
  • An ability to build and maintain exceptional client relationships
  • Strong sense of personal motivation and the ability complete all responsibilities with minimum supervision.
  • Collaborative and supportive approach to teamwork
  • Motivation for the mission of the Fairtrade

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

  • This is a full-time position.
  • An initial one-year contract is offered. It is envisaged that the contract will be renewable after the initial one year period.
  • Location is at Fairtrade International offices in Bonn, Germany
  • The office language is English
  • Salary as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Wholesale and Foreign Trade Industries for North Rhine Westphalia and Fairtrade International Company Agreement on wages and salaries, Group V
  • Starting date as soon as possible
  • 30 days of holidays per year
