Family Mediator The Durham Family Court
The Durham Family Court Clinic is seeking highly skilled Family Mediators to provide all or some of the following services on a fee-for-service contract basis:
- On-site family mediation (at court),
- Off-site family mediation (at DFCC offices),
- Information and Referral Services at the Family Law Information Centre (Oshawa courthouse)
- Group presentation - Mandatory Information Program material for family court clients.
Key Experience & Skills
- Experience mediating complex family issues
- Sensitivity to cultural issues
- Experience in screening for domestic violence
- Knowledge of family law pertaining to the areas of mediation practices
- Understanding of financial and property issues as they relate to separation and divorce
Qualifications
Applicants must have the following qualifications or proof of accreditation by the OAFM :
- A professional degree or equivalent significant directly related experience
- A minimum of 60 hours of training in family mediation (a basic and advanced level course)
- A minimum of 14 hours of initial domestic violence education or training
- A minimum of 100 hours of supervision including a minimum of 5 cases mediated to the point of agreement where an OAFM Accredited Mediator, FMC Certified Mediator or an ADR Institute of Ontario Certified Mediator has proved supervision and/or consultation.
