Afghanistan PM Shelter

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and assist within the sector of shelter, education, emergency food security and distribution, camp management and legal assistance.

NRC has been working in Afghanistan for the past 8 years. Over that time some 3 million refugees have returned home – 3 million still remain in Pakistan and Iran. However, the continuing insurgency in Afghanistan has complicated the return making some areas of the country inaccessible and creating new displacement. Many of the returning refugees and internally displaced have no access to land, the title to their land is disputed, or they lack access to their basic civic rights.
